Final Cut Pro - Adjusting Audio Filters in Real-Time

Not just video is real-time, audio effects are too. Here's how to use them.

Is there an audio filter you want to try, but you're not sure of the best setting to use? Well, FCP allows you to adjust audio filters in real-time during playback. Here's how:

1. As an option, press Option+Cmd+W to display the waveforms for your audio clip.

2. Go to the View menu and turn Loop Playback ON, so its checked.

3. Select the clip and apply Effects > Audio Filters > Final Cut Pro > Reverberation (or whatever effect you want to use)

4. Set an In and Out for the clip to represent the duration you want to review.

5. Double-click the clip to load it into the Viewer and click the Filters tab.

6. Type Shift+\ to start your sequence. Adjust the effect parameters in the Viewer in real-time, while listening to your clip.
