Final Cut Pro - Locating Clipping Audio Levels
Audio levels must not clip - here's how to spot problems.
Audio levels in FCP should never go above 0 dB. Anything louder than this will distort when you export or output to video tape. This tip shows you a quick way to check your sequence.
1. Either select the timeline containing your sequence or drag the sequence into the Viewer.
2. Choose Mark > Audio Peaks > Mark.
3. Final Cut quickly scans your sequence and puts a green marker wherever it finds audio levels that are too loud.
4. These markers are retained by the sequence. If it isn't already in the Timeline, double-click the sequence in Browser to open it in the Timeline.
5. Use Shift+M or Option+M to jump from marker to marker and adjust the audio levels accordingly.
6. To delete all the markers in the Timeline, choose Mark > Markers > Delete all
