Final Cut Pro - The Fastest Way to Do a Roll Trim
Roll trims are my bread-and-butter. Here's how to eat faster.
This is one of my favorite techniques. Select an edit point (either by clicking it with the mouse, or typing V). Put your playhead where you want the selected edit point to move. Type E. The edit point jumps to the position of the playhead - provided you have sufficient handles in your media.
Apple calls this an Extend edit.
But here's the secret part. You can also do this in real-time while playing the sequence. Just type E and the selected edit point jumps to the position of the playhead at the instant when you pressed the key; provided you have sufficient handles on each clip.
(By the way, you can't jump an edit point over an existing clip.)
